New year’s update

January 24th, 2012

After much contemplation and discussion, we have decided to put The D.A.D. Project on the backburner.

When we launched The D.A.D. Project in June 2010, we didn’t establish a timeline because we had no idea if things would flop or take off. We were more than pleasantly surprised when we raised more money in the first couple of months than we’d estimated for the first year! And here we are, a year and a half later, having donated over $3,800 to The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) to date.

From here, our plan is to post drawings when we can. All future AND past drawings will still be available for purchase (even if they don’t appear in our etsy shop). The best way to view all drawings to date is to peruse this blog or our Facebook photo albums. And, as always, $10 of each print sale will be donated to CCS. The frequency of our future posts will be sporadic, as we’ve both recently been feeling the crunch of too much to do and too little time — work, motherhood (for Em), life. We realize this means we won’t really be living up to the “Drawing A Day” name, but we’re still working in the same spirit.

We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the support that we have received since launching this Project, and we hope you enjoy the occasional drawings we’ll be posting. This has been a great experience so far — not only for the fundraising aspect, but also the creative challenge, and the opportunity for us to work together. Thanks for joining us on our little venture, and keep your eyes peeled!

It’s that time of year again …

December 21st, 2011

Hellooooo everyone … sorry for being a drawing delinquent last week but I found myself caught up in holiday parties and other “responsibilities” of the season.

Speaking of which, Em and I would like to wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season — and Happy New Year (yep, it’s gonna be the year of the dragon)!!

Season's greetings for 2012 from The D.A.D. Project

Take care and all the best in 2012. Thanks for all your support this year!

Feature Friday Donation #54: Detailed flower cabochon ring #2 from Meg of FrameBoutique

December 9th, 2011

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a FF donation! So I’m happy to tell you that when Meghan of FrameBoutique, another fellow T.E.S.T. member and artisan, reached out to me a few months ago, she actually donated TWO of her beautiful Zinnia blossom rings set against a black lace filigree base. We featured the first one back in September (which someone bought within hours of us posting it!) and today, we have the second one up for grabs (grey-blue in colour at 5 o’clock in photo below):

You can see more of Meg’s elegantly handcrafted designs at frameboutique.etsy.com or frameboutique.blogspot.com/. Aside from her obvious talent as a jewelry designer, Meg also delves in painting, photography and writing.

Meg, thank you for this second donation — we really appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Happy weekend everyone!
