Drawing A Day #51: Woodland swingers

September 1st, 2010

I used to love a cartoon called ‘Fables of the Green Forest’ when I was a kid — heard of it? (And if so, did you find Sammy Bluejay as annoying as I did???)  The show popped into my head the other day… and I put a little cheeky twist on it for today’s D.A.D. — Woodland swingers:

And with that, I’ll leave you with the theme to the show that inspired me:

Also, a big thanks to NancyWallisDesign (who makes some gorgeous jewelry you might want to check out!) for including our Awkward walrus in her treasury:

Drawing A Day #49: Flights of fancy

August 30th, 2010

I had a client meeting last week, and the topic of business attire came up. I chuckled as I looked down at my sneakers… I don’t own one business suit, nor do I have any dry-clean-only items or anything that needs to be ironed. I’m grateful that I live in a day and age when I can get away with casual clothes most of the time; I would’ve been one miserable gal in the time of corsets, petticoats and bustles! Somehow, all of this got me to today’s D.A.D. — Flights of fancy:

Have a great, comfy week!

Drawing A Day #47: Water buffalo

August 25th, 2010

I’d never drawn a water buffalo in my life, but then got two requests this summer to do so. The first was for my friend’s kiddo’s nursery; and then came this request for a D.A.D. from Bill H.

I was inspired by the artwork I found when looking up pictures of water buffalo online, so I wanted to try this more traditional painting style — even though watercolour has always been such a challenging medium for me. The fish in the picture are obviously enhancing the bath time experience, and making the “water” in Water buffalo into a verb:

As an aside, while working on today’s D.A.D., I had this throwback running through my head:

Thank you Bill, and thank you Neneh Cherry!
