Drawing A Day #22: Dragon fly

July 13th, 2010

When we received a suggestion to do a dragon for one of our drawings (thanks Julie!), I volunteered to take it on since dragons are one of my favourite things to draw. So here’s today’s D.A.D., Dragon fly:

Dragon Fly
Real dragonflies actually make me nervous — chalk it up to a bad childhood experience when a large one landed on me and I ended up pinning it to my shoulder with the side of my head in a panic. I can still hear/feel the buzzing and flapping of its wings as it tried to get away (I did finally just lift my head and it took off). So now when there’s one flying a little too close for comfort, I always keep an eye on it. Yes, call me weird.

For today’s D.A.D.: introducing Space Cat and Moonbeam Mouse journeying to galaxies far, far away in Fly me to the moon:

And another happy note, our Walking on Sunshine print was also just included in another Etsy treasury – whoohoo:

Drawing A Day #6: Pigs Can Fly

June 15th, 2010

As Em mentioned yesterday, Lynn suggested one of us doing a pig illustration so I decided to take up the challenge … with the following D.A.D. as the final result:

Pigs Can Fly

I recently did some volunteer facepainting at an elementary school fun fair and got asked by several boys to make them into Spiderman or Batman. I think Super Pig would have been a close third if they had known about him. Who says pigs can’t fly? Here’s to conquering your fears, trying new things everyday and reaching your goals.

And way to go Em … her Boston Terrier drawing from yesterday got featured in a “turquoise” treasury on Etsy:
