I recently saw The Wizard of Oz on tv the other night… and I’d forgotten how mesmerizing it is. That early tornado scene always creeped me out as a kid, although I do love doodling things flying through the air. This image popped into my brain somewhere during that process — even though I know there are no elephants in Kansas! — and it’s called Go fly a kite:

This must be one featherweighted pachiderm, since the last time I drew him, he was also airborne… Hopefully, there’ll be some munchkins or nice flying monkeys who’ll help this guy get back to solid ground :)

Today’s D.A.D., Flying by the seat of your pants, may take things a little too literally:

I played around with a few ideas for the creature of flight (an eagle? a group of swallows? a toucan?) before deciding on the bat – if anything, I figured it would be fun to give him and the boy matching teeth.
