Drawing A Day #87: An apple a day

December 6th, 2010

Apples were my favourite fruit as a kid. But when I hit my early 20s, I became allergic to them. I could have apple sauce, juice, pie — anything where they’d been cooked or processed — but not raw (the best way!). Then last fall, 15 years after I’d quit apples outright, one of my clients brought me a bag of freshly-picked MacIntoshes. They were so fragrant and such a thoughtful gift, I figured I should just try a bite. Well, try I did, and I found out I’ve outgrown my allergy. It’s been apples galore ever since, woohoo! And so, a tribute in An apple a day:

This is my first D.A.D. that I didn’t do in Corel Painter… I’ve been working (in my day job) on a bunch of technical illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. I figured I’d just try doing my drawing today using Illustrator too, just for a different look; I also brought the illustrations into Photoshop to add some of the distressing and details into the background. Here’s to dabbling!

Have a great fruity week :)
