Feature Friday #34: Tri-Colour Reversible Cowl by Renée Stephen

March 25th, 2011

Today’s donation is from my sweet friend Renée (who happens to be in the Book club that inspired my last D.A.D.) She’s taught me a stitch or two and has made me drool with her gorgeous hand-knit creations — the Tri-colour Reversible Cowl she’s created for us is no exception:

(Yes, I know I look dorky, but it’s the best shot I have of the cowl being worn and that shows all three colours at once! Check out the etsy listing for more photos :)

This cozy cowl is made was hand-knit with charcoal grey, heather grey, and eggshell white acrylic yarn. It is knitted in a variation of the bramble stitch, which on the reverse has made a barrel stitch design. The circumference is approximately 81 cm (32 inches) and it is 32 cm (12.75 inches) in width.

Renee started knitting as a stress-reliever while doing her MA and MBA (at the same time!) in Toronto. Her first project was a scarf that started at 6 inches in width and expanded to 24 inches, basically turning it into a shawl! Having since completed her degrees and moved to Ottawa, Renee continues to knit and finds it is the perfect way to relax after work. She has also gotten much better at it.

That last sentence is an understatement. THANK YOU, Renée! You are a superstar.

.

Thank you also to ShopMichL for including our Yakkity yak print in her “Hey, call me! On the…table lamp?” treasury

… and also to BlahStudio for including John’s photo donation Terminal in their dramatic “Dreamland – Real Images of an Imaginary City” collection:

Great way to end the week… have a terrific weekend, everyone!
