Feature Friday #2: No Worries by High On Craft

June 18th, 2010

** Update: Tanya’s print has been purchased (offline) and has been removed from our etsy shop…
HOWEVER, Tanya has decided that she will continue to sell reprints of it from her shop and donate $5 from each sale to D.A.D.
— find her listing here **

One of the first people to contact me with words of support after we launched D.A.D. was Tanya from High On Craft. She has donated a print to our shop called No Worries — a watercolour she created expressly for our project, inspired by her father who lost his battle with cancer in 2003: “This is an homage to my dad who loved sailing. When he was on his boat, he literally had not a care in the world and anyone who stepped on board with him couldn’t help but feel the same.”

(The copyright watermark is not on the actual print.)

I met Tanya on the etsy forums (fora?) and also got to know her through her blog and her shop. Her whimsical painting style and her adorable Cuddlewee™ characters — which she sometimes creates as plush dolls — are unmistakable.

We finally got to meet in person this week to do the print hand-off, though it felt like we already knew each other. This is us, with Tanya’s heart-melting 9-month old son:

Thank you, High, for your kind words, warm gestures and friendship, on-line and off-.

Coming up to the end of the second week of The D.A.D. Project, here’s a tally of what’s happened so far:

  • 14 print sales + the sale of John’s photograph
  • $450 in direct donations to our Canadian Cancer Society team page
  • over 150 members in our facebook group

AND we just found out that we’ll be interviewed on CBC Radio early next week about the project. We’ll post the details once we know them.

Have a terrific weekend, everyone!
